Workshop – Rotation – Model
That is the St. Andrews model for their Sunday School Program. This is a robust multi leveled approach. The children are divided by age groups from babies all the way up to the age of 16 (over 16s stay in for the service). They younger ages study one bible story a month experiencing it in different ways ie food, crafts, story, etc while the older group follows the weekly lectionary. I have the privilege of organizing and leading the older group through the bible study and discussion following the weekly gospel reading. I am also helping to create a “breakfast church” for the older children and anyone who would like to come to have a bible study type meeting before the church that follows the Holy Habit of Worship lecture series to explore chritian themes more closely. Finally we are creating a group that will visit an evening service at the neighboring churches once a month to strengthen the emunmencial partnerships the church has while exposing them to non United Reform Church traditions, liturgy, and ideology.
